The fire still took its toll on both the Main Eagle and East Eagle canyons. Now all that timber and such that was burned in the mosaic pattern is now loaded with bug kill and fire stress. Ripe for another fire if the conditions are right. Fast forward to 2020 and we decided as property owners decided to become a Firewise community. Amy and I got together with Steve Meyer at the ODF and Gary Timm, Baker County Emergency Management in the winter of 2020 and worked up a plan to become a Firewise community. Amy Charlton did all the legwork to get our community established, and as of January 2021 we were official. We had another property owner meeting in June of 2021, showing all the owners our boundary and the mitigation plan that was created. We also discussed what to do for protecting their structures and what kind of help we can possibly get from ODF to do some clearing around roads, etc.

We are all very excited to be a Firewise community and look forward to taking care of our structures and the surrounding lands.
